Our Releif Program During Covid-19
During the first wave, Pramadaya India Foundation focused on helping and aiding the crippled communities by providing them with hygiene and ration kits and raising awareness amongst them regarding the pandemic. We also served the front-line workers, doctors and provided PPE kits. Our main aim was to offer gender inclined public health assistance and humanitarian support to the most affected families so that they do not face the wrath of the pandemic. This allowed us to release the impact of the crisis on children, women and young girls.
Pramadaya’s Outreach
During the first wave of the pandemic, Pramadaya India Foundation reached out to more than 500 families and offered them food supplies, hygiene kits and met the needs of nearly 1000+ individuals, both directly and indirectly in the Northern belt. Not only this, Pramadaya India Foundation also organised health camps and through its program reached different rural areas where there was scant knowledge about COVID-19. Additionally, we always kept in mind the safety of our field staff and ensured that they followed COVID protocols at all times while helping the others. This was done by contactless distribution of ration, medical kits and essential supplies.
Helping People with Comorbidities
Aimed towards community outreach, Pramadaya India Foundation’s relief programs have served as a connecting link between those living with comorbidities and life saving medicines to ascertain that their well being and treatment is not hindered during the pandemic. Additionally, during the times when field visits were not possible, our foundation innovatively aided the unprivileged families through phone calls and stayed connected with their entire community. Our team conducted daily follow ups to understand the health, challenges and the existing conditions within different communities. They also informed the unprivileged people about the myths, preventions and safety during the lockdown. Pramadaya India Foundation supported over 100+ families during the lockdown.

Pramadaya India Foundation's contribution during Bengal Floods
During the year 2020-21, the state of West Bengal was severely hit by floods. Storm surge and torrential rains hit different parts of the state and many areas were submerged in waters. This impact was mainly due to Cyclone Amphan. Coastal areas were deluged by the everlasting rains. According to data, nearly 22 lakh people were affected (Source:The Hindu). More than a dozen lives were lost and nearly 30,000 mud houses were destroyed.
People had no access to basic amenities like shelter, food and water. The flood also brought along with itself many diseases. Those which were not impacted by the flood, succumbed to these outbreaks.
During that time, Pramadaya India Foundation took a step to help the affected families. The foundation disturbed food to more than 100 families. Shelter was provided by us, to the people displaced during the flood. We ensured that people living in the coastal areas were provided with food to eat along with a roof over their head. We also helped the injured individuals by admitting them to hospitals. Pramadaya also provided medicines, ration kits and clothing to gravely affected communities.
In situations where immediate action was required, Pramadaya came forward to provide humanitarian relief. We also teamed up with different NGOs and disaster management authorities to aid the rescue programs run by them. This allowed us to broaden our outreach and save as many lives as we could. The Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal was amongst one of the most severely impacted ones. Nearly 2,000 houses were completely submerged in the flood.
Economic crunch developed over time and many communities faced financial issues. Pramadaya India Foundation organised different fundraising projects on its online platform to provide financial support to the impacted population. Financial relief was provided to those unable to even cater their basic and medical needs. We also spoke to different communities and families living in impoverished areas to better understand their needs.
During the Bengal Floods, Pramadaya India Foundation was able to provide relief over 300 families and 500+ individuals. Our sole aim was to necessitate their healthy and comfortable living during the tough times.
Children, young girls and teenagers were most affected in the age pyramid. Their access to education, mainly schools and tuition were completely cut off by the floods. Pramadaya stepped forward to ensure that their academics were not affected. For this, the foundation distributed academic books, stationery, notebooks and other necessary items. This allowed the children to study even during the times of flood.
Pramadaya continues to spread its wings…
Over the past 3 years, Pramadaya’s contributions have never ceased. Statistics show that each year nearly 2000 lives are lost due to floods and other natural calamities. In the year 2020, nearly 950 people died due to floods in India. Not only deaths, but these disasters bring upon upheaval of both dwellings and lives. Thousands of people are left homeless, hundreds of them face scarcity of food and water and the majority fall prey to some disease. In a period starting from January 1,2022 till 30th September, 2022, out of 273 days nearly 242 days have seen natural calamities in India. These numbers are astonishing, considering the numbers of lives lost and the people injured.
In the months of September and October every year, Bengaluru faces thunderstorms and heavy rains. This makes the city susceptible to flooding. Other coastal areas nearby are also affected. Each year, Pramadaya India Foundation comes forward to support the families facing the problems imposed by the natural calamities. We offer shelters to those displaced and the ones who have lost their homes. Pramadaya also provides them with clothes and food to meet their basic needs. Poverty stricken families and their children are taken care of by the foundation during such times. Supply of clean drinking water and hygiene supplements are offered to the impacted population.
Pramadaya India Foundation also supports the education of the children during such times. This is done by partnering with schools and taking care of the entire financial liabilities of the children. Our foundation also organises workshops to spread awareness regarding the importance of education and the possibility of having a better life. We ensure that the families participating in our workshops send their child to a school. This would in future ascertain their quality life and even allow them to deal with natural disasters in a much better manner.
In the city of Bengaluru, Pramadaya has helped over 400+ families during the times of floods and other disasters. Our relief programs are aimed to improve the healthcare of the population during tough times and to ensure the availability of basic amenities. Till now Pramadaya has organised nearly 3 major and a dozen minor relief programs to aid and support the victims of these natural disasters. Food, shelter, water and medicines have been our major contributions to the impacted population.
Pramadaya India Foundation believes in offering a helping hand on a constant basis. Although our reach is currently limited to some parts of the country but with our integration with other organisations, we provide support all over India.
